The Regional Rail Link is a 5 Billion dollar project constructing a new rail line running from West of Werribee through Deer Park and suburbs including Sunshine and Footscray to Southern Cross Station.
It will separate regional trains from metropolitan trains – for the first time giving Geelong, Bendigo and Ballarat trains their own dedicated tracks through the metropolitan system from Sunshine to Southern Cross Station.
The Project has been seperated into 3 major work packages and 2 minor work packages. Gertzel Survey has been engaged to provide engineering survey services for 2 of the major work packages being Package B & Package C.
Package B is a joint Venture between John Holland, GHD, ABI Group and Coleman Rail. The major features of this project are the extension to the North Melbourne Fly Over and construction of a new 1100m Bridge and Fly over across the Maribyrnong River.
Package C is a Joint Venture between Thiess, Balfour Beatty, Parsons Brinkenhoff and SKM. The major work features of the project include upgrades to Footscray, West Footscray stations and two rail separations in Sunshine.
